53rd Annual Book Fair

Do you want to help keep our community library one of the best in the San Diego region? If your answer is “yes,” then we look forward to seeing you on Saturday, April 12, at the Coronado Library for the 53rd Annual Spring Book Fair! All proceeds from this event go toward supporting library programs.

This one-day-only book fair is a cherished community event, offering thousands of books across all genres at unbeatable prices. Shoppers can browse selections outside the Coronado Public Library as well as inside at the Lobby Bookstore and Second Hand Prose store.

Please note that while the book fair takes place on the same weekend as the Coronado Flower Show, it is a separate event hosted by the Friends of the Library.

Don’t forget to bring your bags or boxes for your book haul! Tote bags will be available for purchase at $2, and we accept both cash and credit cards.

We can’t wait to see you there!

The Friends group generously finances most of the Library's events and special offerings, such as the Community READ, the Summer Reading Program, the Winter Read Challenge, and the Library's art exhibitions. We also contribute funds for specific needs like updating the Teen Center with new furniture and shelving. If you have attended Library events, it's likely that the Friends of the Library, consisting of hundreds of community members, have supported and funded them.

Special Thanks - 2023 Annual Book Fair

It truly does require a community effort. Last year's Book Fair was a tremendous success, thanks to the numerous individuals who contributed to making this beloved community event possible.

  • Generous readers consistently donate their gently used books to FOL, while dedicated volunteers tirelessly sort, price, and store these donations year after year.

  • Leading up to the event, the City of Coronado Police Department arranged parking, City Public Works provided trash and recycling bins, and the City Recreation Department supplied essential tables.

  • On the event day, numerous volunteers from BSA Troop 806 and its sister Troop 1806, sailors from the USS Lincoln, students from the Coronado High School National Honor Society, the Library staff, and committed Coronado residents dedicated their time to supporting the Library. Special thanks to Starbucks, High Tide, and Donut Beach Coronado for providing nourishment to the volunteers.

“The day was filled with reuniting old friends and making new ones. Most importantly, every earned penny will contribute to the Library's diverse programs for the community. A big thank you to everyone involved.”

– Carl Luna, President, Friends of the Coronado Library
